                   Pharmacist and owner Stan Chester has been a fixture with Smith Caldwell Drug Store since 1978. He has served this communtiy in a professional and courteous manner.  In 1992, Holly Friend began working as a clerk, moving to a pharmacy tech position, manager, and now co-owner.  Layton Kelley, also co-owner, joined the team as the head pharmacist after serving rotations through Smith Caldwell as a student at UAMS Pharmacy school. Patti and Stan Chester, Holly Friend, and Gina and Layton Kelley understand the needs of this community; and, along with their other pharmacists, techs, and store personnel Smith Caldwell’s team is here to serve you and your family.                 Click here for more information

Smith Caldwell Drug Store originated in the early 1900s as W.C. Caldwell Drug Store. It was located on the corner of Main and South streets. Its owners were W.C. Caldwell and Alfred Hockersmith. Its ownership later changed hands to Caldwell and Orlando Smith and the name soon became Smith Caldwell Drug Store. Its location changed during those years to a building on Market Street in downtown Benton. In the 1960s, its ownership changed once again to Don Hall and Charles Smith, making a move around the corner and down the street to Main Street. It remained in their ownership until 1996 when it was sold to owners Patti and Stan Chester. In October 2007, the Chesters welcomed partners Holly Friend and Layton Kelley. It is currently located in a beautiful new 10,000 square foot building on Main Street in Benton. Smith Caldwell is one of the largest independently owned and operated pharmacies in Arkansas. In October 2004 and October 2005, Smith Caldwell Drug received the highest awards by Drug Topics Magazine, a monthly nationally published news magazine for pharmacists.
