SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to check with my Pharmacist when I am purchasing over the counter (OTC) medications or herbal supplements?

Yes, definitley speak to your Pharmacist. You need to make sure you will not expect to experience and adverse affects that may interfere with your prescriptions.

I have Medicare Part D (Medicare Drug Plan) why am I paying full cost for my medication?

All medical part D plans have levels which vary according to the individual plan.

Level 1: Deductible Level - A deductible will need to be met before any co-pays will begin. You will pay full cost of your medication until the amount paid by you reaches the deductible amount. (the amount varies by plan)

Level 2: Initial Coverage Level - This level is reached when the amount you will pay for co-pays plus whatever the insurance plan pays toward the medication reaches $2700.

Level 3: The Gap Level - The gap level begins once the individual reaches the combined total of $2700 (initial coverage level). The gap requires the individual to pay the full amount of their medication until the amount reaches $4350. Many people refer to this level as the donut-hole.

Level 4: Catastrophic Level - When this level is reached the co-pays will be extremely low. With most of your plans the co-pay will 5% of the cost of the medication.

All levels begin a new cycle at the beginning of each year.
