What is DME? DME stands for Durable Medical Equipment. DME items are pharmacy items that are not drugs; however, they are items needed to maintain your health. A few examples of these items include crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, and even diabetic supplies and nebulizers.
Who needs DME items? Anyone, regardless of age, may need a DME item sometime in their life. A person who has ever had the need for a crutch, cane or a wheelchair for a broken leg, or a nebulizer to help them breathe will qualify for durable medical equipment. Whether it is a lifetime or a temporary need for a DME item, Smith Caldwell is ready to assist you with the help you require to attain your best possible health.
Does your insurance cover DME Items? It can be difficult for you to determine whether your insurance covers certain DME items. This is because there are hundreds of medical plans and they are all different. Smith Caldwell will contact your insurance company to determine if the DME item you need will be covered. We will bill your insurance company for any of the DME items with a prescription from your physician. We will also be glad to ship your supplies directly to your door if you are not able to pick them up or you are not within our delivery area.
